I’ve been MeetMarcel’s regular courier for a long time. At MeetMarcel, they of course know the traditional courier companies, but they call on me for the ‘special assignments’. So, this time, it was a misty Tuesday evening in September a few years ago when I drove to a village in the Belgian Kempen to pick up a devil’s altar.
Working for a team like MeetMarcel means letting yourself be surprised − but I could never have imagined where I would end up that night. It was an ordinary row house, unobtrusive in a street like the ones we have an untold number of in Belgium.
A bizarre figure had me descend to the depths of this mysterious place via a narrow staircase − and the man’s set of instruments made me wonder what they were up to at MeetMarcel. The devil's head he gave me looked straight into my eyes as I made my way back to my van. I could not drive home fast enough with this ‘catch of the day’. Apparently, MeetMarcel created an ‘Eyes Wide Shut scene’ with that striking object − which won them another award as well. Maybe I should write ‘the memoirs of a courier at MeetMarcel’...
